Do you think it really matters? I have found some of my most ugly designs do the best, pretty basic, no actual graphics and they get about 5-25 CTR .....

Well I think it's abut monetization. Those square ads that are placed mainly in the middle of the page gets lots of clicks easily, that's gd monetization.

For designs checkout my proxy template site, I have a lot of great free templates. www.skinmyproxy.com

All my templates include a TOS and have a banner coded in to proxied pages for you to have a reference point for your CPM advertising.

I have found that the ugly, plain templates perform well for me. I like to keep the URL box below the page fold so the visitors see ads first and have to scroll for the url box.

A nice template is really only good for keeping regular visitors that bookmark your site. If your ranked top in search engines or advertise a lot, as long as your proxy works your gold

If you are desperate for money, you can always make the word "SPONSORS" in big letter and list down your ads.. :P
